Deer Linen quilt

Published on 10/26/13

New attached image I recently started working on my first linen quilt. I love doing whole cloth quilts, so this just added another dimension for me. I found the linen at an antique store in Pensacola for $8. New attached image I loved the hand embroidery – it reminded me of the time I spent at my Grandmother’s in the summers. She worked with me on my stitches and I can still remember her telling me that the back needs to look as nice as the front. This linen was beautifully stitched. New attached image

Curves Table Runner – update

Published on 10/22/13

I am loving the texture of the quilting. I am actually a little bit further on this project than the picture suggests – but I had a problem, my son get fountain pen ink on it. I am unsure if it will come out, but after spending this much time quilting it I am going to use it anyway.

Finding inspiration

Published on 10/22/13

It has been absolutely beautiful here lately. We were down by the water and one of my favorite birds – a blue heron was just basking in the sun.

I find quilting inspiration in some of the oddest places. Mark and I were out for lunch and we had a paper napkin. I love the design on the edge and will probably use it on one of my linen quilts. I had to snap a quick picture before using the napkin.

New “secret” project

Published on 10/18/13

I participated in a group challenge project this year. It was called a slice quilt. This is not a new concept in the world of quilting. Our guild is doing 2 of these quilts as a special display at our next Quilt show in April 2014.

This is probably the hardest challenge that I have ever participated in. One, it was based on a piece of art from a local Pensacola artist. Second, my slice was a building with signage. Lastly, it was supposed to be a specific size. ( I made it larger to begin with but all the tread work and quilting shrunk it about 2 inches in length.)

It is done – and turned in. Here is a sneak peak of my slice.

A finish – Revisiting Bling

Published on 10/14/13

I have had the quilting and binding done on this for a few weeks but no time to take pictures. The green frogs make me smile every time I look at it. New attached image I had fun working with the different colored thread s and new designs. A few tension issues since I did not want to switch out the bobbin color. New attached image New attached image New attached image New attached image I had been “visiting” the backing fabric for some time – glad I finally got a project that I “needed” it for!
