Bits & Pieces

Nursery Banners

Published on 09/14/12

Well..I am back to work everyday so the posts will not be as frequent. I am happy to get a little sewing in each day – hopefully I can get back to posting about once a week.

I have been working on some small projects and trying some new techniques.

This is the banner for the infant nursery.

New attached image I have to do prairie points on my next challenge quilt – so I thought I would try them out. I love the dimensional pop of color. The frog is fabric, but the rest of the color in the center is painted. I had so much fun quilting and painting this.

This is the banner for the toddler nursery.

New attached image I loved making the stick-men toddlers and embellishing them. The “Welcome” letters were fused on but the “Toddler” letters were painted. I love combining all the different techniques. I think my favorite part is the striped fabric.

I have several friends/family who are expecting little ones this fall. I have enjoyed making some baby quilts.

This was made for baby Jeremiah who is due to be delivered today. His Mom went in to the hospital this morning. Hopefully it will go well for her – this is #6 so she has some experience. =)

I did get this one quilted on the long-arm. Emilie took the pictures for me – she does such a great job!

Garden lizard finished

Published on 08/22/12

I hate to admit it but my unfinished projects often stay unfinished for quite some time. I have been working hard all summer to catch up and have actually finished all but 2 of the 15 projects I set out to finish. I have the idea for finishing the last two and will hopefully be able to say that they are all done.

The garden lizard quilt was started back in 2008 (4 years – yikes!). Here is the original post about it. Well…....I am happy to say that it is DONE! The quilting was done on the long arm. I had a few thread problems, so I picked it out and fixed it on the Bernina. I sewed the binding on both sides as this quilt is going to Logan to use on a regular basis. I have decided that I will do this for bindings on quilts that I know will be used and washed a lot.

Tutorials page added

Published on 08/15/12

I have decided to group all of the tutorials together on one page for easy access and visual accessibility. I figured that most people will not want to scroll through 5 years of blog posts to find tutorials. The tab is in the left-hand side bar. I hope this works well and that I will be able to add to them. I have a few more in mind….the next will probably be setting in circles!
