I have been working this week on getting a new class sample done. I am going to be teaching a thread sketching class in September and it is always good to have a sample at the shop for people to see. I had wanted to do a lizard for my son-who is in love with anything reptile. I found a really cool photograph of a lizard and asked the photographer’s permission to use his image to make my sketch. He was kind enough to say yes. I have done several thread sketches but this is by far my favorite. It is going to look great on the wall. Only the top is done now, it needs a lot of embellishment yet.
I tried something different to make the lizard shape stand out. I used organza on the top and cut away the extra around the shape before doing the thread work for the leaves and the tree trunk.
The pictures are the rough sketch that Mark helped me with, a close up and the completed quilt top.
