Bits & Pieces

Pumpkin Harvest

New attached image We all have fabric in our collections that was at the time a “great purchase” and was going to make a “great quilt”. This is one of the hardest quilts for me to finish. It is no longer really my color pallet or style, but it was a UFO and I was determined to finish it! So, one more quilt checked off the list.

One thing that I like (actually love) about this quilt is the quilting. I did an all-over free-hand signature “Ingrid” design. It was so much fun to do! I also like the pieced back.

This quilt is in the store.

Pinwheels and Flowers

New attached imageNew attached image New attached image It truly is hard to admit how many UFO’s I had in my studio, but I am making great progress. This is one of my favorite quilts so far. The colors make me think of spring. I was not so sure about the pink binding, but it is growing on me. I used a high loft batting and quilted it on the long-arm with Aurifil cotton thread (which was a joy to use, even if it is a little pricey).

I also added this quilt to the store.

Emile did the photo-shoot for me. I love the picture on the fence!

Another quilt out of the UFO pile!!!!

I love the colors in this quilt. I quilted it on the long-arm with a polyester thread. I had a little problems with the tread tension on the back, so I ripped the sections out and then did the repair work on my Bernina.

I added this quilt to the store.

New attached image I got this out of my UFO pile and into the store. Emilie did the photo shoot for me and took some great pictures. I quilted this on the long-arm and am very happy with the feather and border work.

Batik corduroy quilt

Published on 09/15/12

New attached image I am ususally pretty consistent with the types of fabrics that I use in my quilts. I try to stay with high quality cottons. Well…I say that in theory but I do love experimenting with fabrics. In the past I have used organza, silk, fleece, velvet….and I am sure a few others. This time I tried using corduroy as a quilt backing. It is a thin pile (which means narrow ridges). I was given about 6 yards of it several years ago, so I decided why not?

I quilted it on the long-arm and it did great. I love the look of the quilting on the back. It would make a lovely picnic blanket or for the late fall games as a lap quilt.

I have added this quilt to the store. New attached image New attached image
