Bits & Pieces

Curves – November

Published on 11/23/08

Well, I have gotten started on my next big thing. I am hoping that with a few weeks off of work around Christmas and no teaching scheduled, I can get a lot done.

Mark put up a 4 foot light for me today. It is mounted under the shelf right above my sewing table. I couldn’t believe what a difference it made. I guess my eyes were working really hard, especially with all the pinning for the curves.

Here are some pics. The one with Emilie will help give some perspective of the size of the new quilt.

Machine Quilting Program

Published on 11/20/08

Today I did a new program for the Pensacola Quilter’s Guild on machine quilting. I had done a program about 1 year ago for the night chapter so I had to develop a new version for those who attend both the day and night chapter. This new program deals more with design and some of the basic supplies needed. It also has a power point presentation that displays quilting designs.

The program lasted bout 1 1/2 hours but about 20 minutes or so was answering questions. It was great having the program so interactive. I also had with me about 20 quilts that I have done over the last 5-7 years. Two of the quilts have been juried into AQS shows (2007, 2008).

Mark helped me with the power point presentation and we ended up with about 40 slides. He does such a good job and it sure makes me look good!

I also got to show my completed fairy quilt which I named “Serenity”.

JASPER

Published on 11/01/08

We had a horrible thing happen in our home this week. A beloved pet of over 5 years was killed by a neighbor’s dog. Our family including our other beloved dog have been greatly missing Newton. Mark drove to Georgia yesterday and brought home our new baby, Jasper. He is a boston terrier – only 6 weeks old.
