Secret Project

Published on 01/20/09

I have been working hard on my next big quilt and haven’t taken time to blog. I am spending anywhere for 4-6 hours a day on it if I can. (for the past month) I only have 2 more seams to piece and then the quilting. I often have problems working on a project so quickly because the process of coming up with the perfect quilting design is often time consuming and difficult. I have an April 1st deadline so no time for slacking.

I moved my small sewing machine into the house in the corner of the living room so that I can spend time with the family will I am doing the piecing. It will be out to the studio and my special table for the quilting.

Christmas Day 2008

Published on 12/25/08

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We stayed at home this year instead of braving the ice storms in the north. We had a great time with the kids but certainly did miss the family. Although not enough to be exposed to the stomach flu!

I spent a little time working on my latest project.

Franny’s Bag

Published on 12/01/08

This is a new tote bag design. I made it this afternoon. My friend at work used to be a professional hair stylist so I am trading a bag for a new cut for Emilie. She wanted it to be a purse size with an outside pocket and a zippered top. I quilted it with various geometric designs. I wish I had written down the size of the pattern pieces as I made it because I really like the size of it.

Guild Meeting – November 2008

Published on 11/29/08

This past week we had a great program given by Cena at the Pensacola Quilter’s Guild night meeting. It was on a “no curved piecing Drunkard’s Path”. It was so neat that I had to try it this week. I am using orange background pieces and the center will be an assortment of bugs.

I learned a valuable lesson in doing this project. You really should use diluted liquid starch instead of the concentrate. Full strength is like wall paper paste and does all kinds of yucky things to your iron, ironing board and dryer. So next time I will use it diluted!!!!!

I was going to have Emilie help me with this project but—Nana and Papa were visiting for Thanksgiving and on top of that they got the kids a Wii for Christmas. Needless to say, all interaction with me by the kids since then is only in relation to games on the Wii.

New pics of my gang and Jasper.
