Bits & Pieces

New curves project

Published on 07/15/09

I am doing a curves class on Friday and thought that I would start another small sample. The center is 4 of the same blocks rotating around the center. I was going to just put a tradition straight border on it and then started thinking about continuing the drawing all around the border. Here is the center block with one of the borders. I wanted to piece one of them to make sure I liked it – before investing the time into all 4 and then not liking it. Hopefully, I will have enough fabric for all 4 sides – they are all fat-quarters.

This is the newest member of our family. How a girly-girly like me got stuck with sooooo many pets is a mystery. (1 bunny, 2 dogs, 3 lizards) His name is Calvin.

Puppies

I walked in my daughter’s room the other night and found both of the dogs in her bed. She likes to sleep with them but both of them snore so bad! The big dog thinks the pillow and blanket are his as well, so she is usually stuck at the very end of the bed or hanging off the side.

Not much quilting done this week, but I have several days off next week. I am not going to be able to attend the Knoxville AQS show, so I hope all who do can enjoy if enough for me as well.

I decided this past week that I was going to go ahead with entering a quilt into the Des Moines AQS show. I am glad I decided then because the pictures and paperwork have to be in by Tuesday. Tonight we took the pictures and got them up-laoded to a disc, thanks to Mark.

I am also shipping out my quilt, “In Her Arms” to spend a month away from home. Hopefully when she comes back there will a pretty decoration hanging on her. =) I am hopefully going to be able to attend the show in Knoxville so I will be able to see it hanging.

New class – How do I quilt this?

Published on 06/10/09

I have a new class this weekend that I am teaching. So many people ask me how I come up with the quilting designs for my quilts, so I thought we would get together and work through the process. I really enjoy designing the quilting for my quilts and hope to share ways that will help others. The students are to bring quilt tops that they need help in designing the quilting and we are going to work as a team to design several different ways to quilt each quilt. I am planning on taking several finished quilts as examples.
