At the beginning of December, Emilie and I was able to fly up to Indy and spend a few days with my family. My Mom, sister and I had great fun working on this quilt together.
We all have very different piecing and creative skills, so I was so excited to see this come together. We had so much fun.
This was such a fun quilt to work on. I decided to split up some of the outer blocks and quilt each border strip differently. I really like the texture it created. I did a few thread color changes in the center so I did not overwhelm the beautiful fabric.
This is the back of the quilt.
This is the smallest quilt that I have ever put on the long-arm. It was about 20 inches square. She let me do whatever I wanted – my favorite type of quilting. I think I did about 6 thread color changes in this little thing – but I feel like each quilt deserves it’s own special treatment.
I am so in love with white quilts right now. I made this quilt for a young couple in our church that is having a baby. I often struggle with color schemes for baby quilts as I want it to match the nursery (if I can). The perfect solution to this is a white quilt with a pop of color.
I had the bird appliqué pieces left over from another project. I had a blast with the quilting.
