Bits & Pieces

On the Long-arm

A quilting friend, Cena, brought a few quilts over for me to quilt! Whenever I start a “customer” quilt, I am always nervous. After a few hours, I forget it is theirs – and it becomes mine. What I love about Cena is she tells me “feathers and whatever else you like”. Oh, the freedom! I also love the fabrics she uses. =)

I did not get a full shot of the quilt. I will be better next time.

Chair re-do

Published on 04/25/13

I have created a monster – my husband has taken over one of my sewing machines and is determined to recover this chair. He did get the seat cushion done and only broke one needle (putting in the zipper)! After he broke the needle, he finally let me give him a little advice.

We bought this chair at an area thrift store with the intention of learning to upholster. We found the fabric on clearance. I think I am going to LOVE this chair when it is done.

Diaper Bag

I had one elephant left over from a quilt that I made recently and decided to use it on a diaper bag. I used the wonderful black fabric that I had quilted a few weeks ago for the body of the bag and used the same fabrics for the detail work that I had used for binding the quilt. I really enjoyed making this bag and love the finished product.

My girl

Published on 04/19/13

My daughter went on her first “date”. We are not really calling it a date because they are just”good friends”. It did allow her to get a new dress and shoes and send the afternoon with one of her good friends getting “dressed”. She had a good time and looked fabulous.

On the Long-arm

New attached image This is what I have been working on lately. I LOVE how it is turning out. I have kept the same bobbin color but have allowed myself to make top thread changes throughout the quilt. I lined up the threads I wanted to use and it actually goes pretty quick. I am learning slowly not to be intimated by this process and allow myself the same level of OQD (obsessive quilting disorder) to shine through in my work on the long arm. My other “baby step” triumph is getting rayon thread to run without breaking! This greatly expands my thread choices.
