Mom’s Quilt – A finish

Published on 05/17/13

New attached image My Mom will be seeing the quilt in person this next week. I am so happy how it turned out. New attached image It is an old quilt – made by my Grandfather’s Aunt. My Mom is thinking she was about the same age as I am. I was going to quilt this with a traditional design, but I thought I would add in a little bit of “me”.

I love the four “blue” rows in this quilt. I wonder if she ran out of white, only had enough blue for 4 rows, or if was an intentional design decision?

I have a new quilt on the long-arm! It is a quilt that my Mom sent me to work on. Actually, it is a quite old quilt. It was made by my Grandfather’s Aunt. It is all hand pieced. If you remember this quilt – the muslin experiment was in preparation for this quilt.

I have finished 3 out of 13 rows. It is going to take quite awhile – but well worth the effort. I am loving being able to work on a “family quilt”. I am using a polyester batting, so it will be soft and wonderful to use.

I am hoping to have it done before my family all comes down for a visit, so Mom can take it back home with her.

Abstract Leaves – update

Published on 05/13/13

Making slow but steading progress on my quilt. I am so in love with the colors!

So far I have been able to machine piece all but 1 of the inner circles. The next leaf has several really small inner circles which will need to be done with reverse appliqué.

A Finish

Here is the finish on Cena’s “whimsical” quilt. I love all of the texture! I am getting much better at ruler work. I was quite slow with it when I started this quilt – and had a TON of starts and stops. I will probably rethink all the starts and stops with the next quilt.

On the Long-arm

Another wonderful quilt from Cena in the long-arm. I love the colors in this quilt – quite whimsy. I did decide to do quite a bit of detail work – loving it so far. The only drawback to the designs, so far, is the amount of starts and stops. (I am getting much better at it though.)
