I started making these bags about 4 years ago when the kids in our Toddler Sunday School class promoted. Our church bought each of them a new Bible but I wanted a bag that they could carry themselves and put all their papers in. We put a small notebook and crayons in it as well – to help with the wiggles at the beginning of the service. I love seeing the kids using their bags
I am having a blast making these bags. It is great using up my fabric scraps. I also get to practice my improvisational piecing.

I am having a terrible time picking out my favorite. I love that the bags each match with a quilt.

I designed this fun quilt. I like buying coordinating fabrics and then use them in a repeating pattern. I machine pieced the curves – one of my favorite things to do.
The quilting turned out so pretty. I marked the top before loading it on the long-arm.
I have added this to my
A view of the back.
I like adding a piece of bright-colored ribbon along the binding.

Of course, I had to change up the ideas that I sent to her – I ended up using 5 different designs and created a medallion effect.

I am going to be making some of these for our church nursery but used them to earn money for my oldest son that is taking a trip to D.C. in May and then Puerto Rico in June.
The Boston terrier was made as a baby shower gift – the main fabric is suiting.
The moose was made for a sweetie who loves Moose and is going through some rough stuff medically. The main fabric was an old suit coat that I cut up.
The fox was made as a baby gift for a Mom having #8.
Mark took me away for a night and we stayed on the beach. It was the first time we have left the kids on there own. Multiple things went wrong – one child started running a fever, the car would not start and another child decided that it was too stressful to deal with going to classes. We almost left a few times – but I am so glad we stayed.
I loved standing under the pier – I think a quilt may be born from these pictures.
