Bits & Pieces

Ribbon linen – start

Published on 05/30/14

I really like this small linen – the ribbon through the center of the linen posed some design challenges. I decided that some curled feathers would work.

I really like how the border treatment turned out.

Progress on the linen quilt

Published on 05/26/14

I am loving my sewing therapy. Since there is no deadline, I am quilting as long as I wish and somehow I am just not getting tired. I am also trying new things and stretching myself as a quilter.

I was unsure about the peach fabric as the background at first but now I am loving it.

My bounce-back feathers are not perfect, but I am getting better each time. I am also happy with the straight line treatment in the corners. I thinks it helps your eye move around the quilt. I need to develop a border treatment now.

A new linen

Published on 05/26/14

I started working on a new linen piece today. I like the areas of cutwork and colored embroidery. The linen is about 32 inches square. I layered it on top of a light peach fabric.

I did a bounce back feather for the first time on this quilt. I think I am in love. I did not have time/energy to finish it today. No deadlines – just having some fun.

An Anniversary Gift

Published on 05/23/14

A sweet couple in our church is going to celebrate their 55th Wedding anniversary next month. Their kids surprised them this past weekend with a surprise party! It was so much fun to be in on this. I had no idea what to get them as a gift. I just happened to have been working on this small linen piece and decided to finish it up for them.

I quilted it with Bottom Line (60 weight) thread in both the top and bobbin. I also used two layers of batting in it which gave beautiful texture to the quilting.
