I had the privilege to be part of a 3 person team to design, piece and quilt the Pensacola Quilter’s Guild 2018 opportunity quilt.
Our quilt guild puts on a quilt show every other year. As a way to raise money we make a quilt and sell opportunities to win it. I have been involved with this project in the past but with a lot more people involved in the process and construction.
We met several times and I got to see the quilt grow on my design wall. We each had our design jobs. I started on the curve pieced background while Cena and Voe drafted out the stars. Once the background was “approved” by the committee, Cena and Voe went shopping. I got to piece the background. =) The next step was picking the stars that would be pieced, the size and approximate placement on the background. Cena and Voe did all the piecing of the circular star blocks. I am so glad we let it sit for awhile because we ended up changing the placement of the circular stars several times before settling on the final placement.
The next step was piecing in all the circles – also something that I love doing. Once the quilt top was pieced – it went to Cena and Voe for the appliqué.
