Wedding Quilt Photo shoot

Published on 05/16/12

The wedding quilt is done with 3 days to spare! I finished the binding yesterday while watching Nexflix with the kids. It is in the wash today.

Emilie agreed to help with taking the photos. Warning – there are a lot of pictures. She took about 50 pictures, so it was super hard to limit it to 7. =)

So far it is still a surprise for the bride. She had talked to Emilie in February to see if maybe she would be getting one. At the time, I was up to my eyeballs in show stuff and Emilie told her that probably not since I was so busy. Em didn’t know that I had already started planning it.

Published on 05/16/12

Here are the next two postcards. I am having so much fun with these. I am glad Emma is enjoying them!

The ruching on the shawl is my favorite. But the wedding dress is a close second. The options are endless!

The wedding quilt is done – at least the quilting is done! I am blocking the quilt. To do this, I put the quilt in my bathtub with cool water and agitate it. This removes all the blue ink I used for marking and gets the quilt nice and wet. I then lay it flat on the floor of the studio with a fan on it. It is important to not move it until it is completely dry. This helps get rid of any distortion that occurred with the quilting. I then square up the quilt before putting the binding on. This is another reason that I always pre-wash my fabrics. If it is going to bleed, this is the time that it is really bad, since it is so wet and just laying there.

Beautiful day in Fairhope,Alabama

Published on 05/16/12

On Monday, I had the privilege to meet a wonderful group of ladies. I presented my Fear-less Curves program to the Fairhope Quilt Guild. It is a small group of ladies whom all like quilting!

They meet in a wonderful building full of art. antiques and murals. My son really liked the antique chairs, covered in red velvet.

A day just for pictures

Published on 05/15/12

The wedding quilt is coming along but not ready for pictures yet. I decided to share some photos that my daughter took recently. She gets such interesting angles and beautiful pictures. I really like the view of the wedding quilt from my needle!
