The Pensacola Quilter’s Guild quilt show preview is tonight. I am so excited! It has been a wonderful 2 days getting everything set-up for the show. I am so glad that I was able to take time off of work. It is amazing the number of people it takes and the organization needed to pull it off. My hat is off to Angie, our show chairman, for her amazing job.
Show week has begun

The Pensacola Quilter’s Guild show week has begun. The quilts were all turned in yesterday and I am hoping everyone got their’s done. We are going to have over 200 judged quilts! I have entered 4 quilts. Two of the quilts are new the other 2 were made the year before.
I am hoping to be part of the judging process on Monday. We start setting up on Wednesday. We are going to have an official “ribbon-cutting” Thursday night at the preview. I will enjoy seeing the quilts that night – the rest of the show I will be in the classroom. Emilie has the last part of the week off school so she can help and enjoy being part of the madness. (That is one of the many joys of home-schooling.)

I have finished the quilts for the Pensacola Quilter’s Guild Show that is being held February 26-28th. The quilts have to be turned in next week – so cutting it a little close. I am looking forward to reading the judges comments – good or bad. We have a national judge coming in for the show – Scott Murkin. The large shows that I enter in do not have the opportunity (time) for comments, so I am going to make good use of anything he takes time to say. He actually was one of the judges at the show I entered “In Her Arms” into last summer.
My next project is putting together a lecture on color – one of my favorite topics. I am hoping to get several small sample quilts made for it. I will post pictures of my progress.
I am also brain-storming for my next big quilt. I am thinking it will be of a butterfly but am having a hard time with what technique to use – curved piecing or fibers. Maybe I will have to do one of each!

Mark and I have a great appreciation for good food and enjoy finding new restaurants. We went to a new place in Pensacola that just opened this week. It is a “Chinese Bistro”. I was expecting a nice place because I had peeked in the windows before it was opened and noticed the cool wall treatments and elegant decorations. The service and the food was excellent. We started with a tuna appetizer – very lightly seared. WOW! I would have been content with that. We each had a different bowl of soup – I had the hot and sour soup and it was the best I had ever had. Mark had a vegetable stir-fry with shiitake mushrooms and bok choy. I had the lo mein noodles with stir-fry vegetables. The food was so hot and very tasty. I think we have found a new favorite to add to our elite list.
